Family-Friendly Activities in Mallorca

Mallorca is not just about beaches and sunbeds—it’s full of charming towns, scenic train rides, and family-friendly activities that are perfect even with a baby. After spending a relaxing few days in Cala Bona and exploring the livelier side of Palma, we made sure to see more of the island.

In this post, we’re sharing the best things to do in Mallorca, based on our own trip with our baby.

1. Explore Palma City Center

If you’re staying near Palma or even just passing through, Palma’s old town is definitely worth a visit. The streets are full of character, with historic buildings, cute cafés, and a beautiful waterfront.

You can easily walk with a stroller through most of the center, and there are plenty of places to stop for coffee or lunch. The Palma Cathedral (La Seu) is stunning from the outside—even if you don’t go in, it’s worth walking past.

2. Visit Palma Aquarium (Perfect with a Baby!)

This was one of the highlights of our trip—especially for our baby! The Palma Aquarium is super well-designed, very clean, and has a calming atmosphere that even little ones can enjoy. It had different themes, so the fishes were placed according to those themes. We learned alot about the sea life.

3. Day Trip to Valldemossa – A Charming Mountain Town

Valldemossa is one of Mallorca’s most charming villages, tucked into the Tramuntana mountains. The town is full of cobblestone streets and cute cafés. It’s a great way to get a feel for the more traditional side of the island.

We had a wonderful time here, but do note: Valldemossa is higher up, so the temperature drops a bit—especially if you’re visiting off-season.

Tip: Bring something warm for yourself and the baby. It can get breezy even in summer months.
The cobblestone streets made it a bit hard to push the stroller, so we recommed a baby carrier instead.

4. Ride the Historic Train to Sóller

You’ve probably seen it on Instagram—and yes, it’s just as magical in real life. The vintage wooden train from Palma to Sóller is a must-do if you enjoy scenic travel. The train is open and slow, so you get stunning views of the mountains and countryside along the way.

Once you arrive in Sóller, you can hop on the old-fashioned tram that takes you down to Port de Sóller—a stunning coastal town with a beautiful curved beach and mountains in the background.

It is also possible to combine the train and tram tickets, which makes the whole trip easy and seamless. Port de Sóller was absolutely gorgeous, and the beach has scenic views of the mountains.

Tip: Buy your tickets online in advance. We tried twice to get tickets at the station and they were already sold out both times. Booking ahead saves the disappointment—especially during high season.
